Northern Christians, pastors caution Biafra agitators against provocation

- Northern Christians under the aegis of Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association (ACIPA) have cautioned Biafra agitators against provocation - The association also told the Igbo leaders to refrain from provoking Nigerians with the Biafra secession threat - ACIPA however urged them to learn from the civil war because there was a massive numbers of death Northern Christians under the aegis of Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association (ACIPA) have warned the people agitating for Biafra republic to stop from being provocative. The association made this known in a statement signed by its President, Rev Luke Shehu, stating the Igbo should employ civil democratic norm of lobbying and politics of give and take to achieve their goals rather than threatening the nation with secession, Daily Trust reports. NAIJ.com gathered that they said don’t think there is a need for second war in the because Nigerians would have learned from the first one. The statement read: ''The Igbo leaders should refrain from provoking the psyche of Nigerians with the Biafra secession threat. - Igbo group threatens “While agreeing that their demand could be legitimate, threatening Nigeria with another secession agenda is unacceptable''. ''We urged the proponents of Biafra to take counsel from Odumegwu Ojukwu . We don’t think a second one (war) is necessary. We should have learned from the first one, otherwise the dead would have been to no Avail''. It said Nigeria’s civil war that lasted from 1967 to 1970 was regrettable and better avoided because of the millions of people that died and the valuable properties destroyed. The group enjoined all Nigerians to pray for quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and asked Nigerians home and abroad to resist religious bigotry. Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF) on Monday, July 31, announced the split of south east from Nigeria by announcing an interim ‎government to run the affairs of Biafra. The self-acclaimed president of Biafra, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka made this known at a press briefing in Enugu, Daily Post reports
