Asking Igbos to defend themselves in the north is wrong.

The Peoples Movement for a New Nigeria (PMNN) has lashed out at the Ohaneze Ndigbo for asking Igbos in the north to defend themselves from attack. The apex Igbo group had called on Igbos in the north to be vigilant and ready to defend themselves following an ultimatum issued by Arewa youths to them to vacate the region. Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths give one condition to support one Nigeria According to report, Yahaya Ndu, who spoke on behalf of the group said the statement could expose Igbos in the north to attack. Ndu said if Igbos could not defend themselves in their states from killer herdsmen, how would they do it in the north. He said: “It is wrong for Ohaneze to have said that Igbo people in the North should defend themselves. It is in bad taste and I find it frightening. If Igbo cannot defend themselves when herdsmen attack them in their villages in the South East, is it in the North that they can defend themselves? “The issue of Biafra should be discussed. Town unions in Igboland and Igbo people living in the North should discuss this. I do not believe in secession and I also do not believe in the injustice against Ndigbo. “You (Ohaneze) cannot stay in Enugu and ask defenceless Igbo people in the North to defend themselves. The first civil war was not discussed and 50 years after, we want to make the same mistake again.
Some are saying the Igbo in the North should start returning, if they return, what would they train their children with? What would they feed their family with.” Meanwhile, acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo fulfilled his promise to meet with leaders of the north as part of his move to reconcile the region and the south east. The acting president on Tuesday, June 13 promised to meet with leaders from both regions and according to The Punch, he flagged it off with a meeting with leader from the north. Osinbajo is also expected to meet with leaders of the south east separately before having a joint session with them.
