According to reports in The Sun, Chelsea are ready to go head-to-head with Liverpool in the race to sign £65m-rated Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Sun says that the Reds are in pole position to bring the 28-year-old to the Premier League, but that the Blues have been given hope after the Merseyside outfit stalled on meeting the £65m price tag and the Gabon international’s £180,000-a-week wages.
Aubameyang enjoyed the best season of his career last time out after scoring 40 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.
Antonio Conte is looking to sign a new centre-forward after telling Diego Costa that he isn’t part of his plans for next season, while Romelu Lukaku has already opted to join Manchester United over the English top flight champions.
Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour, with the majority keen on bringing Aubameyang to Stamford Bridge and some even saying that he is “better than Lukaku” because of his stats.
